WOMEX 14 - The Pilgrimage!

This week, Wales Arts International will be heading to Santiago de Compostela to attend WOMEX 14.

The World Music Expo takes place between the 23rd and 26th of October and will welcome musicians, producers, venues, managers and labels from all over the world

Trade Fair by day: Showcases by night.

The WOMEX trade fair is a bustling day time event allowing international delegates the time to meet, do business, create and develop networks and contacts. Not only that but the trade fair offers performances ‘day-cases’, conference sessions where a wide variety of music related topics are discussed amongst a panel and the audience, and a selection of jury-chosen films.

Night time at WOMEX can only mean one thing: music. An entire evening of constantly changing music is presented at WOMEX each year. Numerous stages, international acts each and every evening- what more could you want!? WOMEX allows delegates the opportunity to hear music from all over the world in one convenient location.

Following the immense success of WOMEX 13 in Cardiff, Wales will be part of the Gorwelion/ Horizons delegation; consisting of England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales and welcome Welsh, British and international delegates to visit us at our stand 1.97-1.98

Wales is proud to support Lleuwen Steffan who was chosen as the official Welsh offWOMEX act to perform at WOMEX this year. Lleuwen will be performing on Thursday evening 21.45 at Salon de Teatro.

Wales Arts International also supported a number of the delegation from Wales to attend WOMEX through our bursary scheme. Successful recipients were: Dafydd Hughes, Cowbois Rhos Botwnnog; Dan Lawrence, Olion Byw; Elliw Iwan, Cwpwrdd Nansi; Gareth Bonello, The Gentle Good; Geoff Cripps, Steam Pie Records; Huw Williams, Calan; and James Rourke, Carreg Lafar.
