Wales Arts International supported 7 arts organisations to travel to Montréal, Québec from 17th -22nd November 2014 for CINARS 2014.
CINARS is an international performing arts biennial which aims to encourage emerging cultural creations, promote commercial discussions between organisations specialising in production and show presentation, and establish Montreal as a worldwide hub of performance art networking.
Wales Arts International have supported venues and some producing companies to attend the week long showcase festival and market place for a number of years, but this was the first time to be hosting a trade fair presence at the event.
1,500 delegates hailing from 40 countries attended the 16th edition of the biennial, with the trade fair playing host to 349 exhibitors. The showcase element enabled 608 artists to perform in the official and OFF-CINARS programmes.
Wales Arts International supported NoFit State Circus, Chapter, Taliesin Arts Centre, Wales Millennium Centre, Fieldwork, National Theatre Wales, and Galeri to attend the event. They were able to network with other arts professionals from all over the world, discussing international artistic exchanges, international tours and international programming for their venues.
The next edition of CINARS will take place in Montréal, 14-19 November 2016.
