February 2014 saw the
celebrations of Dylan Thomas’s centenary in New York City kick off with events organised by Wales Arts
International, Welsh Government and British Council.
Wales Arts International hosted
an event at Nuyorican
Poets Café in which Cerys Matthews and US writer Kevin Powell took the audience
on a journey through Dylan Thomas’s legacy with Welsh musicians Patrick Rimes
and Gwenan Gibbard, alongside a whole host of New York based poets and
musicians. The event also played host to the launch of the Dylan Thomas Prize
2014 – a prize for published authors under 30.
