‘For a Spell’ brought together by Fern Thomas’ children and their friends to explore through play a re-imagining of an old place-based tradition from Wales where a community came together to protest and change what was happening where they lived. Research questions around this work in particular respond to ideas around ‘making kin’ through the potential repeated ritual with the same group of children as they grow, and how this can be a tool for developing resilience and a place-based response to growing up in an age of climate breakdown.
