Wales Arts International is the international agency of the Arts Council of Wales.
We provide advice and support to artists and arts organisations from Wales who work internationally. We are a contact point for international artists organisations and agencies working in or connecting with Wales.
Our purpose is to:
-
ensure Welsh artists engage internationally;
-
help develop and enrich artistic practice, careers and ambition;
-
grow new global opportunities for the arts and culture of Wales;
-
invest in artistic collaborations that inspire and connect people in diverse communities in Wales.
We participate in a number of key European networks that ensure we continue to build and strengthen our international relationships. We’re members of IETM, On the Move, Culture Action Europe and Res Artis.
If you’re an artist working in Wales, we can provide advice, guidance and information through our events, on our website and through our social media platforms. We can support you through International Opportunities Fund grants, or through other strategic interventions if you’re working in one of our geographic priority countries.
If you’re an international artist looking to make connections in Wales, or an international promoter, agent or institution wanting to invite an artist or organisation from Wales to take part in your event or project, we can help point you in the right direction.
We work in close partnership with our financial Sponsor, Welsh Government - its global offices and its cultural agencies - as well as with British Council and UK government agencies.
The Wales Arts International Forum is a gathering of leading international arts organisations and practitioners in Wales who input in to our strategic direction. It places the artistic and cultural interests of Wales at the heart of our international strategy. The latest forum took place in July 2018 - you can find out more on this video.
Our strategy that sets out our work for the next 5 years is available below.
