Utopias Bach is locally embedded and globally resonant, created by those taking part, and open to all.
Inspired by and conceived during lockdown in 2020, Utopias Bach invites you to rethink Utopia as small, rooted in place, with connections across the world.
"We invite you to imagine and try out little things that might in some way help create a better place for people of all kinds (human and more-than-human), especially those who are most badly affected by the state of the world and its transition.
Being part of Utopias Bach is an opportunity to join a diverse community noticing the little things, trying out different ways of thinking and being, creating and entangling ourselves in the people, processes and places around us. A revolution in miniature, focused at a scale we feel we can influence."
- Utopias Bach
This way of working is a direct challenge to the global ‘last chance’ stories that as Suzanne Dhaliwal suggests, "invite draconian responses centring wealth, instrumental nature, techno fixes, large scale annexation of land and water."
One of the methods they use to decolonise our thinking are ‘guided visualisations’ - including ‘Trawsffurfiad’- which enable us to experience the possibilities of another way of being.
