"Oona Doherty is a choreographer and dance artist based in Belfast who has achieved remarkable and deserved recognition in the past few years. This solo performance from her work 'Hope Hunt' that became part of her bigger work 'Hard to be Soft', brings us back to the essence of Oona’s skill. The solo is a tribute to the men and women of inner city Belfast that has resonated in cities across the world. It honours the vulnerability and humanity of a particular machismo and surface aggression and shows how in dance, a single body can transform to hold the lives and experiences of many others. When I invited Oona to spend some time with National Dance Company Wales in 2018, it was because I felt her work had a particular resonance in Wales. I think it still has." - Fearghus Ó Conchúir
