In 2021, Wales is planning a themed year of activity to showcase the breadth of activity and exchange happening between Wales and Germany in the areas of: commerce; science and innovation; culture and the arts; education; tourism; and sustainable development goals.
Here’s a message from Phil George, Chair of the Arts Council of Wales; Sarah Younan, Council Member at Arts Council of Wales; and Eluned Hâf, Head of Wales Arts International.
In a programme of activity led by Welsh Government, Wales Arts International is delighted to be involved in the initiative between our two countries, and across 2021 we aim to nurture our existing artistic links, as well as develop new ones. Supporting our artists to continue to collaborate and work internationally has never been more important and we are pleased to announce that our International Opportunities Fund will be re-opening this month. We are particularly keen to encourage applications from Wales based artists and companies working with partners in Germany. Other cultural highlights across the year will include National Dance Company Wales touring Germany; British Council and Literature Wales partnering with Literaturhaus Stuttgart; Sir Bryn Terfel singing ‘The Flying Dutchman’ in Munich and Kelly Lee Owens performing her album ‘Inner Song’ in Berlin.
