‘Bydi Cymraeg’ is a new offer to support arts organisations in Wales to place Cymraeg at the centre of their plans and creative actions. It is an offer created thanks to a collaboration between the Welsh Language Enabler at Arts Council of Wales and cultural network Creu Cymru and will be available to organisations that are members of Creu Cymru.

A member of the Welsh arts Consortium (Bydi Cymraeg) will work with the successful organisations over a period of 6 months and will provide the equivalent of 12 days of their time as part of the pilot scheme. This time will be free of charge to the organisations, who are welcome to add to the offer to extend or increase the time.

Two organisations will be selected in the first year. All you need to do is express interest in being part of the scheme.

You must answer the questions as part of the application:

  • Why do you want to take up the offer?

  • What benefit will the offer bring to your organisation?

  • How will you support the scheme and demonstrate your commitment to it?

The deadline for receiving expressions of interest is Friday, 25th July.

This offer is in addition to the other opportunities to learn Welsh offered to the arts sector through Arts Council of Wales and partners:

Dysgu a defnyddio'r Gymraeg

Cynnig Cymraeg (quality mark from the Welsh Language Commissioner)

It would be beneficial if your organisation was already taking advantage of these schemes.

Louise Miles-Payne, Director of Creu Cymru said,

“We’re really excited to partner with the Arts Council of Wales on the Bydi Cymraeg scheme. It’s a brilliant chance for our members to get hands-on support with putting the Welsh language at the heart of what they do. Whether you're just starting out or looking to build on what you already have in place, this is a great way to explore new ideas and connect more deeply with Welsh-speaking audiences. It’s all about making Cymraeg a natural part of your creative journey- and we’re here to help make that happen.”
